Discussion - What are autonomy, beneficence, and justice? (As described in the book)
Belmont report
- The National Commission wrote the Belmont Report for the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioral Research.
Research has to get answers that are ethical and respect the subject. This Belmont report is the guid to protect all human research.
Autonomous
They need to get a paper concent.
- An autonomous person is an individual capable of deliberation about personal goals and of acting under the direction of such deliberation.
- Example - Humans have the right to not participate in the study at any time - we need a consent form that we have shown everything inside the study, and we can choose to leave.
Beneficence
Researchers try to not do harm.
- Doing no harm to the person - make sure that you are doing as little harm as possible.
